I create original picture book illustrations for professional authors working with publishing houses, looking to bring their stories and characters to life through an immersive visual world.
Working digitally in Procreate, I create enchanting atmospheres rich in symbolic and meaningful details, where readers can explore, connect with the characters, and carry the story's messages and wisdom into the real world.
My work explores the connections between children, animals, and nature, offering parents and educators a gentle way to approach meaningful conversations.
Standard Package: Picture Book Illustrations (12 double pages) – €2,545
+ Minimum 5% royalties, to be agreed upon with the publisher.

The package includes:

Character design: Design of the main character, if required.

Initial sketches: Sketches for the entire book, including the cover, back cover, inside covers, and all 12 double-page spreads, with one revision round.

Line drawings: Line drawings for the entire book, followed by one color proof and one revision round.

Final illustrations: Full coloring and delivery of all completed illustrations.
Estimated timeline: Approximately 3 months from the start of the project to the delivery of the completed illustrations.
Required before the project begins:

Publisher's layout guidelines: Sample layouts showing the dimensions of the cover and double-page spreads, including margins, bleed areas, and text-safe areas.

Complete book manuscript: The full text, with each passage assigned to its corresponding page or double-page spread, so sufficient space can be reserved for the text.

Scene descriptions: An outline of the main actions and events involving the characters in each double-page spread.

Publishing agreement: A contract with the publishing house must be in place before the project begins.

Payment terms: A 1/3 deposit is due upon placing the order, with the remaining balance payable upon delivery of the completed illustrations.

ABOUT ME
I am Irene, a freelance illustrator working under my creative brand, Medilludesign. I have been drawing for as long as I can remember, and after years of working as an Environmental Engineer, I chose to follow my creative path. That background has left its mark on my work: my illustrations always explore the dialogue between nature, emotion, and awareness. I've published two illustrated books, one self-published and one with a publishing house, distributed in Italy, France, Spain, and South America. I work in Italian, English, German, and Spanish, with some French. I developed my skills through Character Design studies in Modena and digital illustration courses, specializing in Procreate.
